The insider trading game

When a CEO buys or sells shares in their own company, they have to disclose it. chart.champ turns those real filings into a game: you see the stock chart leading up to the trade — but not the trade itself — and guess which way the CEO went.

1. Study the chart

You see the 30 trading days before the filing: price action only, no ticker, no dates in the future.

2. Call it: buy or sell

You have 25 seconds (or 10 on fast mode) to decide whether the insider bought or sold their own stock.

3. See the real filing

The reveal shows the actual trade, its estimated value and how the stock performed afterwards.

Real insider trades, not made-up ones

US rounds come from SEC EDGAR Form 4 filings — the legal disclosures officers and directors file when they trade their own company's stock. European rounds use managers'-transactions disclosures under the Market Abuse Regulation. Trade values are filtered so rounds stay guessable: no tiny option grants, no billion-dollar founder sales.

Insider buying is one of the most-studied signals in finance — executives know their own business better than anyone. Playing a few rounds a day trains you to read the same charts quants screen for.
